Ike studied a broad variety of fields under the umbrella of marine technology, including: marine charting and navigation, marlinspike seamanship, boat handling and practical seamanship, marine engines and electrical systems, environmental sampling and analysis, oceanography, marine biology and zoology, Geographic Information Systems, and hydrographic surveying.

Ike joined the Northeast Oyster Breeding Center as a research technician in 2023 with the goal of attaining practical experience in the fields of marine aquaculture, algal culture, and aquaria systems. With a working background in practical hardware/mechanical systems and an academic background in marine biology and ecology, he looks forward to advancing the efforts of the NOBC and the Milford Lab.
