Jim will serve in this role through March, 2021. Jim is a member of the current LCDP class and this will be his fourth Developmental Assignment. Outside of LCDP, Jim works for the NMFS Office of Science and Technology as the Liaison for the National Sea Grant College Program. Prior to that Jim was an academic for 17 years at Virginia Tech, then at the University of Florida.
While here, Jim will take on traditional Chief of Staff roles such as organizing Leadership Team meetings and oversight of Directorate staff, and he will also take on special projects, including participation in the Learning Team, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and more.
My primary focus was building partnerships between NOAA Fisheries and the National Sea Grant College Program, including its network of 34 Sea Grant programs across the country. These partnerships encompass a Graduate Fellowship Program and an Undergraduate Workshop, both designed to increase the pipeline of applicants into NOAA in mission critical fields. Additionally, I am a Federal Program Officer on a number of programs, utilizing my experience with the granting process. Further, I also serve as a subject matter expert for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Science and Technology on population dynamics-related projects.
