KB attended the University of Rhode Island for her undergraduate degree, and began her fisheries career as an intern in the Office of Law Enforcement.  She worked for a short period for the U.S. Fisheries and Wildlife Service as a Park Ranger at the Parker River Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport, MA.  She later joined the Northeast Center’s Fisheries Sampling Branch (FSB) in 2001 as a Data Debriefer, later becoming the Lead Data Editor and Data Quality Lead.  In 2010 she became the Groundfish Fishery Lead, aiding in the development of the At-Sea Monitoring program in support of catch monitoring for the groundfish fishery, and also serving on the Groundfish Plan Development Team for the New England Fishery Management Council.  She assumed the Branch Chief position in the fall of 2020.  She has two children, Molly and Hunter, and in her free time enjoys spending time swimming, boating and hiking.
