Kristen is a Science Communications Specialist with the NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center's Research Communications Branch. Her goal is to make fisheries and aquaculture research understandable, compelling, and actionable for diverse audiences. She is trained in marine biology and has conducted field and lab research on the ecosystem services provided by oysters, as well as the ecological role of marine invertebrates, including shellfish and coral reef sponges. She is a 2012 Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship alumna. In her previous roles with the NOAA’s Office of Oceanic & Atmospheric Research and Office of Education, she provided expertise in science communications and environmental policy.
