Louise Giuseffi

Biological Science Aid

Louise Giuseffi is a biological science aid for the Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division.  Louise specializes in developing simulations in animation software to rigorously test structure-from-motion survey protocols, UAS operations, ArcGIS map making, and calibrating oceanographic instruments.  Louise previously worked for NOAA in Hawaii at the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center for 9 years as a biotechnician, where she participated in 35 research cruises.  Louise served at PIFSC as a small boat coxswain and scientific diver, and assisted nearly every Division with a diversity of missions, to include: setting up field camps, spearfishing for biological samples, processing trawl catch, maintaining databases, and collecting/processing fisheries and oceanographic samples.  Prior to this, Louise worked as an intern for NOAA to remove derelict fishing gear via freediving from the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument and as an intern on the Mapping Team.  Louise holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Hawaii, a Masters degree from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a 100-ton Captains license.
