Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Matta
Beth is a Research Fisheries Biologist in the Age and Growth Program at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center. She has more than 20 years of experience studying the groundfish of Alaska, with research interests spanning fish age determination, identifying environmental factors influencing growth, and elasmobranch life history studies and stock assessment improvement. Beth holds a B.S in Biology from The College of New Jersey and an M.S. in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington. She has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and has contributed to numerous fisheries stock assessments. Beth has served as a member of the Habitat and Ecological Processes Research Core Team and is currently a member of the Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands Groundfish Plan Team of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council.
