Megan Burns

Fisheries Biologist

Megan is a fisheries biologist and member of the ocean acidification research team with the Alaska Fisheries Science Center’s Shellfish Assessment Program in Kodiak, Alaska. She joined NOAA Fisheries in May 2024 after working as a contracted lab technician at the Kodiak Lab since August of 2022. In addition to her active role in the OA team, Megan is integral in running laboratory experiments, collecting critical data in the lab and in the field, and participating in the annual eastern Bering Sea bottom trawl survey. Megan holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from University of New Orleans and a Master’s Degree in Biology from Louisiana Tech University. Outside of work she loves hiking in the backcountry and spending time on the ocean.
