Social Science Research Analyst

Melissa Rhodes-Reese is Social Science Research Analyst with the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission based at the Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute in Juneau, AK.

Melissa is working with Dr. Marysia Szymkowiak at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center to incorporate human dimensions into ecosystem based fisheries management practices.

Melissa examines how management practices influence fishing participation while aiding in the development of methods to bridge data gaps that inform policy decisions include qualitative network models. She contributes to the development of social and well-being indicators for individuals as well as fishery dependent communities by integrating economic, health and demographic data. Melissa is aiding in the development of localized conceptual models to provide fishermen with up to date information about their changing marine ecosystems.

 Melissa received her BS in Fisheries from the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska.
