Michelle Arias
Michelle Arias began her work in human capital management in 2012 as the Deputy Director for the State Department’s Office of Recruitment, Examination and Employment. Later she served as the Deputy Director for the Office of Policy Coordination focused on Department-wide human resource strategic planning. Most recently, she was the State Department’s Acting Office Director and Chief of Programs and Performance Division for the Office of Shared Services in the Bureau of Human Resources.
Arias started her public service career in 1996 as a civilian with the U.S. Army South in Panama and subsequently served nine years with the FBI as an analyst focused on operations both stateside and overseas. She has a Master’s degree in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Louisiana State University.
