Richards Chizhuthanickel Sunny
Richards earned his bachelors in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras). He then received his MS and PhD in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. His research via numerical modeling in computational fluid dynamics has been focused on developing surface tracking methods for fluid flows, modeling of submarine volcanic tsunamis, underwater water turbine for renewable energy, and biomimetic propulsion system for ships. Richards started working as an ocean engineer for AIS Inc. in support of NOAA Milford Lab in January 2022. His research via numerical modeling is centered on developing engineering and technical guidance documents for offshore aquaculture engineering. His research is also being implemented to inform the development of ropeless aquaculture gear.
