Robert (“Bobby”) Murphy, PhD
Bobby completed a B.S. (2012) and Ph.D. (2018) from Northeastern University in Boston, where he studied striped bass commercial and recreational fisher responses to regulatory changes. He then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Assistant Research Professor in the Fisheries, Aquatic Science and Technology Lab of Alaska Pacific University. Research
Bobby joined the Northeast Fisheries Science Center in January of 2024 and his role involves both management support to regional Fishery Management Councils and primary research. His research aims to inform fisheries management and our understanding of fishery social-ecological systems using the qualitative and quantitative social sciences, which includes serving as the NEFSC point of contact for the Social Indicators project.
