Sergio Morales

Biological Science Aid

Sergio Morales is a biological science aid for the Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division (AERD). Prior to coming to NOAA, Sergio served in the U.S. Navy for eight years and was honorably discharged from service in 2012. Sergio holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in environmental science from American University.

Within AERD, Sergio's main responsibilities include pre-and-post field season preparations. Sergio travels to Antarctica once per year for up to four months to collect pinniped data used to inform ecosystem-based management in the Southern Ocean. He collects field data using multiple technologies, including unmanned aerial systems. Once back at the lab, Sergio assists with processing the data collected.
