Proposed species for listing under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) are those candidate species that were found to warrant listing as either threatened or endangered, after completion of a status review and consideration of other protective conservation measures.
We follow a strict legal process known as a rulemaking (or regulatory) procedure to propose to list a species under the ESA. Public comment is always sought on a proposal to list species under the ESA.
Currently, there are no species proposed for listing under the ESA.
