Atlantic Herring Notification Demo and IFM Outreach for Fishermen
This event has two key objectives: show Atlantic herring fishermen how to use the Pre-Trip Notification System (PTNS) for observer notification and selection and breakdown the new Industry-Funded Monitoring (IFM) Omnibus Amendment.
About
Starting in April 2020, Atlantic herring commercial fishermen will need to use the Northeast Fisheries Science Center's PTNS for observer notification and selection. To help with this transition, staff from the Science Center and Regional Office will provide a hands-on demonstration of this new system and answer questions about observer notification and selection and PTNS. They'll also breakdown the New England IFM Omnibus Amendment, its timeline, objectives, and more.
