Celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day at Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery with NOAA programs and partners! This free event is open to the public and will have outreach activities, keiki art projects and games, ocean-themed videos, free giveaways.

Spread your love for marine species with NOAA Fisheries’ make-and-take Valentine cards!
  • Ocean-Themed Arts and Crafts Station
    Show your love for your favorite ocean animals—and share it with others! Get creative with our make-and take Valentine cards. Hand stencil a reusable shopping bag! 
  • Whale & Dolphin Activity Booth
    Learn about whales and dolphins, how NOAA scientists study them, and what you can do to protect them. Find out what it’s like to be a whale biologist in our photo ID activity!
  • 2023 Honu Count
    Discover how you can contribute to NOAA’s sea turtle research by reporting sightings of tagged turtles.
  • Hawaiian Monk Seal Booth
    Join DLNR and NOAA staff to learn about Hawaiian monk seals, viewing guidelines, and how to report sightings to the NOAA Marine Wildlife Hotline: (888) 256-9840! Take your photo at the monk seal photo booth.
  • Community Resilience to Climate Change: Food, Homes, Livelihoods
    Talk with the UH Sea Grant College Program about the Kauaʻi climate adaptation plan, aquaculture research with Kauaʻi Sea Farm, and adaptation to sea-level rise. The first 50 families will receive a free copy of the storybook “The Three ʻIo Brothers and the Rising Tide!”
  • Large Whale Entanglement Response Demos
    See how the U.S. Coast Guard works with NOAA to respond to entangled whales. Find out the rules and best tips for navigating around whales.
  • Marine Debris Booth
    Learn about the harmful effects of marine debris from Surfrider Foundation - Kaua‘i Chapter, how to prevent marine litter, and how you can join community beach cleanups and net patrols.
