Research Track Working Group: 2023 Improving Assessments for Atlantic Cod

This research track will address Atlantic Cod.  Research track assessments evaluate new datasets that can either inform or be used in new or existing stock assessment models. Our goal is to develop an improved stock assessment for Atlantic cod that can be used for future management track assessments.

Stakeholder Meeting

A virtual Stakeholder Meeting will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This science-focused meeting will begin with an update on the Atlantic cod research track assessment and then open up for stakeholder questions and input on topics including:

• Changes in patterns of commercial and recreational landings and discards over time.

• Insights on targeting and avoidance of cod in the fishery over time.

• Changes in the distribution of fish and availability of fish to the fishery over time.

• Changes in selectivity of the fishery over time.
