ʻAhi are important here in Hawaiʻi. They’re well loved by residents and visitors alike and a key ingredient in poke. But like many other species, ʻahi face an uncertain future. How will catch rates for our ‘ahi longline fishery change over the next few years? How will climate change affect the fish? Questions like these are why we’re developing ways to forecast future ʻahi catches. To do this, we use information about species across the ecosystem—from phytoplankton to humans. Tune in to see how it’s done!
This 45-minute event will be hosted on WebEx and will include interactive elements and a chance to ask questions in real time through a moderator.
