About
Tune in to this live webinar to learn about the Town of Plymouth's efforts to restore habitat in Town Brook. Hear an update regarding ongoing research and monitoring of river herring and American eels, and learn how these restoration projects are helping to recover populations to historical levels.
The NOAA Restoration Center has worked with the Town of Plymouth, State of Massachusetts, and other partners for decades to remove barriers on Town Brook and reopen the stream. The first dam was removed in 2002, and as of 2019, five dams had been strategically removed and major improvements to fish passage have been implemented at the sixth dam site. Now fish like river herring and eels can make it to and from habitats important for their survival and sustainability, and they are better able to support ocean species that rely on them for food.
This program is presented by NOAA, Wildlands Trust, and the Town of Plymouth Department of Marine and Environmental Affairs.
