NOAA Fisheries Releases New Priorities and Annual Guidance for 2018

February 07, 2018

The 2018 Priorities and Guidance document provides guidance to all NOAA Fisheries employees in executing our mission responsibilities in the next year.

Mount Edgecumbe, Sitka, Alaska

Today, we released the NOAA Fisheries Priorities and Annual Guidance for 2018 document. In full collaboration with leadership from across the agency, we created this document to provide guidance to all of our employees in executing our mission. The document will aide in the development and execution of the agency’s Annual Operating Plan by establishing a framework for priority milestones.

Our programs, projects, and investments will be designed and conducted in a manner that supports these three strategic goals:

  1. Maximize our fishing opportunities while ensuring the sustainability of fisheries and fishing communities.

  2. Recover and conserve protected species while supporting responsible fishing and resource development.

  3. Improve organizational excellence and regulatory efficiency.

In 2018, we are working to execute our stewardship mission more efficiently, with an emphasis on streamlining our regulatory processes.
