In 2024, NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Regional Office awarded approximately $7 million in grants and cooperative agreements to 14 U.S. and international agencies and organizations from American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawai‘i, and the greater Pacific. The projects support our efforts to achieve healthy marine ecosystems. They focus on:

  • Stability for fisheries resources
  • Recovery of threatened and endangered species
  • Enhanced opportunities for commercial, recreational, and cultural activities in the marine environment

Project activities range from fishery development training to increase catches and meet growing demand for local seafood to monitoring endangered Hawaiian monk seals. These partner projects will enhance our efforts to build resilient marine ecosystems and thriving marine economies in the Pacific Islands region. We remain dedicated to working with partners to fulfill our marine stewardship mission.
