Photographs can transport us back to some of our favorite memories. They can also introduce others to wonderful places. To celebrate photographs that help connect us with the importance of healthy habitat, we’re holding the 2021 NOAA Habitat Month Photo Contest.
Each July at NOAA Fisheries, we celebrate all things habitat through a month-long feature, Habitat Month. We add spotlight articles on our website and share lots of information on social media. And we want to highlight your outstanding coastal and marine habitat-related photos! This year’s Habitat Month will focus on Connecting Habitat, Climate, and Communities.
This year, we will accept entries that incorporate habitat in the following categories:
- Humans in Habitat: Photographs that show people enjoying or benefiting from healthy coastal and marine habitats.
- Habitat and Climate Change: Photographs that illustrate the effects of climate change on coastal and marine habitats.
Our digital photo contest is open to photographers of all ages and experience levels, whether youth, amateur, or professional. NOAA employees and other government employees and affiliates (including contractors, fellows, and interns) are also eligible.
The contest starts on Monday, June 21, 2021, and the submission deadline is Wednesday, July 21, 2021, 11:59 p.m. EDT. Entries submitted after the entry period will not be eligible.
Winners will be announced and showcased on the NOAA Fisheries website during the week of July 26, 2021.
