Maine Sea Grant – NOAA Fisheries Undergraduate Internships in Sea-run Fish Research

Maine Sea Grant is partnering with NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) to provide opportunities for undergraduates to gain experience in the field of fisheries. We are currently recruiting interested students for participation in the Summer 2024 Undergraduate Internships in Diadromous Ecosystem Research Program.
Several Undergraduate Paid Internships are available (links below) through an ongoing collaboration between UMaine’s Sea Grant Program and NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center. These competitive positions will be 40 hours per week. Students will have an opportunity to be a part of the National Sea Grant Community Engaged Internship Program which is designed for undergraduate students from all backgrounds, including underrepresented and indigenous communities. Start dates vary according to position, ranging from May to June and will last for up to 12 weeks. Potential projects include:
- Diadromous Program at Maine Sea Grant – Orono ME
- Atlantic Salmon Freshwater Assessments and Research – Jonesboro DMR Office
- Atlantic Salmon Research: Scale Aging & Analysis – Woods Hole, MA
- Atlantic Salmon Freshwater Assessments and Research – Augusta DMR
- Atlantic Salmon Freshwater Assessments and Research – Milford DMR Office
To be eligible for this program you MUST be enrolled or accepted in a degree-granting or certificate program from an accredited institution in Maine AND enrolled at least half time (6 credits or more) in the Fall 2024 semester.
