Status Review for Anadromous Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) in the United States

July 01, 2006

This Status Review presents the findings of the 2005 Atlantic Salmon Biological Review Team (BRT).

This Status Review presents the findings of the 2005 Atlantic Salmon Biological Review Team (BRT). The 2005 BRT has defined the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population Segment (GOM DPS) of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) based upon genetic, life history, and zoogeographic information. The GOM DPS is comprised of all anadromous Atlantic salmon whose freshwater range occurs in the watersheds from the Androscoggin northward along the Maine coast to the Dennys, including all associated conservation hatchery populations used to supplement natural populations; currently, such populations are maintained at Green Lake and Craig Brook National Fish Hatcheries.
