Stock SMART is a public access point for information related to Stock Status, Management, Assessment, and Resources Trends.

Stock SMART is a public access point for information related to Stock Status, Management, Assessment, and Resources Trends. You can use Stock SMART to navigate, access, visualize, compare, and download information from thousands of fisheries stock assessments stored in NOAA Fisheries’ centralized records database, the Species Information System (SIS). That information can include the best estimates of current and historic levels of fishing mortality and stock biomass, time series of fishing mortality, catch, stock biomass, and recruitment, and the condition of a stock relative to management reference points.

Stock SMART replaces the now-retired SIS Public Portal, and furthers NOAA Fisheries’ efforts to achieve transparency throughout the fisheries management decision-making process. It provides stakeholders and interested parties with instant, shareable access to summaries of stock assessment results through stock-specific URL’s. This feature will help to broaden awareness with respect to the condition of fishery resources, facilitate easier cross-linkages of information, and inform discussions about the best ways to sustainably manage fisheries.
