Fisheries Off West Coast States; Modification of the West Coast Salmon Fisheries; Inseason Action #51

NOAA Fisheries has taken inseason action in the Pre-May 16, 2023, commercial salmon fisheries north of Cape Falcon (NOF).

The following modifications to NOF have been made:

  • Modified the quota for the May-June north of Falcon commercial ocean salmon troll fishery that opens May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am to 26,000 Chinook salmon, no more than 6,890 of which may be caught in the area between the U.S./Canada border and Queets River, and no more than 6,040 of which may be caught in the area between Leadbetter Point and Cape Falcon. 
  • Modified the landing and possession limit for the entire area between Cape Falcon and the U.S./Canada border of 200 Chinook salmon per vessel for the period May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am through May 10, 2023, 11:59 pm, and 150 Chinook salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday – Wednesday) beginning May 11, 2023, at 12:01 am. 
  • Modified the landing and possession limit for the area between the U.S./Canada border and the Queets River to 105 Chinook salmon per vessel for the period May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am through May 10, 2023, 11:59 pm, and 70 Chinook salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday – Wednesday) beginning May 11, 2023, at 12:01 am. 
  • Modified the landing and possession limit in the area between the Queets River and Leadbetter Point to 200 Chinook salmon per vessel for the period May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am through May 10, 2023, 12:59 pm, and 150 Chinook salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday – Wednesday) beginning May 11, 2023, at 12:01 am. 
  • Modified the landing and possession limit in the area between Leadbetter Point and Cape Falcon to 90 Chinook salmon per vessel for the period May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am through May 10, 2023, 11:59 pm, and 60 Chinook salmon per vessel per landing week (Thursday – Wednesday) beginning May 11, 2023, at 12:01 am.
  • Beginning May 1, 2023, at 12:01 am, vessels may not land fish east of the Sekiu River or east of Tongue Point, Oregon.
