Joletta Silva

Biological Science Technician

Joletta Silva is a Biological Science Technician at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center in Kodiak, Alaska. She moved to Kodiak one year ago, and has been acclimatizing to life in Alaska after her upbringing in Southern California. Growing up near the beach fostered an intense interest in the ocean, and Joletta is an avid diver, swimmer, and surfer. She attended the University of Miami to attain a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science and a Masters Degree in Marine Conservation. Prior to her time in Kodiak she worked as a North Pacific Groundfish Observer and a Chemistry Technician on a NOAA research cruise. Life as a biological tech in Kodiak includes caring for the wide variety of animals in the lab, assisting with setup and running of OA experiments, and field research on the RACE surveys.
