Keith Bosley

Background

Keith holds an A.A. in liberal arts from Ocean County College (N.J.), a B.S. in environmental sciences from Cook College at Rutgers University, and an M.S. in environmental sciences with an emphasis in marine biology from Rutgers University. While in graduate school, he volunteered on several NEFSC bottom trawl surveys and managed the stable isotope laboratory at Rutgers after graduating. Keith started working for NOAA Fisheries at the NWFSC in Newport in January 2000.

Current Research

As a Research Fishery Biologist with the FRAM Division, some of Keith's research has focused on studying fish behavior around trawls using underwater cameras in order to assess the performance of survey gear. He has also continued using stable isotope techniques to study the feeding ecology of pelagic juvenile rockfishes and benthic groundfish in the Northeast Pacific as well. Keith serves as a chief scientist on the West Coast Bottom Trawl Survey and conducts sea safety training for sea-going NW Center personnel in Newport, including survey volunteers. He has served as the Cooperative Research Coordinator for the Center since 2012, and in 2013 he was selected as the Chairman of the NOAA Fisheries National Cooperative Research Working Group for a 3-year term.
