Paul Irvin
Paul began his career with a background in photography, graphic design, theatre lighting and design. He worked at Stanford University with the Alumni Association and the Stanford Daily newspaper student staff, and witnessed the onset of “desktop publishing” in the Silicon Valley. He helped to establish the first technical publishing department in the early days of Microsoft, which led to a rewarding career in multimedia, technical illustration, and instructional design, amidst the “browser wars” of the growing internet - the “World Wide Web”.
He joined the Communications Team in 2015, to help design and produce infographics, video, animation, technical illustration, posters, and other efforts supporting the Alaska Fisheries Science Center and NOAA Fisheries website – including social media, agency reports and other publications – serving the scientific community, research, and ongoing mission of the Center.
