Professional Biography

Phil is the program lead for the NEFSC multispecies bottom trawl survey. He joined the NEFSC Ecosystems Surveys Branch in 2005 with the focus of transitioning the multispecies bottom trawl surveys from the NOAA Ship Albatross IV to the NOAA Ship Henry B. Bigelow. He was integral to the design, definition, and implementation of standardized operational protocols and to implementation of a survey gear standardization program at the NEFSC. His background and research interests are in gear technology, survey design, and fish behavior.
