WPSAR is a cooperative effort between the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council, NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, and Pacific Islands Regional Office to improve the quality, timeliness, objectivity, and integrity of stock assessments and other scientific information used in managing fishery resources in the Pacific Islands region.
NOAA Fisheries announced a Western Pacific Stock Assessment Review (WPSAR) of the “Stock Assessment of the Coral Reef Fishes of Hawaii, 2016” in the Federal Register for August 29–September 2, 2016. The report contains single-species stock assessments for 28 species of coral reef fish stocks around the main Hawaiian Islands. A panel of three independent experts reviewed the stock assessment and reported their findings.
