Yellowtail Flounder Research Track Working Group

This research track will include Georges Bank, Cape Cod/Gulf of Maine, and southern New England/Mid-Atlantic yellowtail flounder stocks. Research track assessments evaluate new datasets that can either inform or be used in new or existing stock assessment models. Our goal is to develop an improved stock assessment for yellowtail flounder that can be used for future management track assessments. This stock will be peer reviewed in the fall of 2024.

Stakeholder Meeting

A virtual Stakeholder Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This science-focused meeting will begin with an update on the Yellowtail flounder research track assessment and then open up for stakeholder questions and input on topics including:

• Changes in size or body conditions

• Observed changes in spatial distribution (location, depth, or habitat)

• Effects on the economic viability of the fishery

• Review of catch data including landings and discards

• Environmental changes
