What is your key responsibility?
I work to conserve and protect marine habitat, their resources, and the endangered species inhabiting them.
Where did you grow up? Is there anything about your childhood or where you grew up that influenced your career path?
I grew up in Long Beach, California. In high school, I was a student volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific here. That heavily influenced my love for science and since then, I knew I wanted to be a marine biologist.

What do you like most about your job/career?
I'm doing important work for an agency with a mission that aligns with my values. I care for the world and its oceans and the people and animals who inhabit it. My job feels very meaningful and fulfilling. And, also—I get to work with sea turtles sometimes, and that's pretty cool!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy spending my free time hiking, camping, hanging out with friends and family, going out for food and drinks, watching movies, trivia nights, and playing card and board games.
What does Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month mean to you?
As a first generation Filipino-American, it means not only acknowledging my identity and being aware of how it has impacted my life, but also getting to celebrate my culture with others!
