Fisheries of the United States
Each year we produce three reports on the status of U.S. marine fisheries: Status of the Stocks, Fisheries of the United States, and Fisheries Economics of the United States.
Fisheries of the United States compiles key statistics into a snapshot of fishing’s importance to the nation. This report provides landings totals for U.S. recreational and commercial fisheries by species; it also has data on the U.S. fishery processing industry, imports and exports of fishery-related products, and domestic supply and per capita consumption of fishery products.
With this information, we can track important indicators such as annual seafood consumption and the productivity of top fishing ports. But—to fully show the overall condition of our fisheries—these statistics must be looked at in combination with other biological, social, and economic factors of ecosystem and ocean health.
Data in Fisheries of the United States are preliminary, subject to revision as we get more information and updates from our regional partners. For the most current data, search our online statistics.
