Council Coordination Committee

The reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Act in 2007 established a Council Coordination Committee. The committee consists of the chairs, vice chairs, and executive directors from each council, or other staff, as appropriate. This committee meets twice each year to discuss issues relevant to all councils, including issues related to the implementation of the Magnuson-Stevens Act. NOAA Fisheries hosts one meeting in January or February of each year, and the second meeting—hosted by one of the councils—is usually held in May or June.

NOAA Fisheries is committed to the timely implementation of all provisions of the Magnuson-Stevens Act. Regular face-to-face meetings or conferences between NOAA Fisheries and the leadership of the eight councils are critical to ensuring priorities are met.
