Green Sturgeon (Acipenser Medirostris) Status Review Update

February 01, 2005

On August 23, 2004, the Southwest and Northwest Regions requested that the Southwest and Northwest Fisheries Science Centers conduct an update of the Status Review for North American Green Sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris) (Adams et al. 2002).

The National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS’s) Southwest and Northwest Fisheries Science Centers were requested to conduct an update of the Status Review for North American Green Sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris) (Adams et al. 2002). The request came as the result of a 2004 court ruling remanding to NMFS for further consideration the issue of whether green sturgeon are endangered or threatened in a “significant portion of the species’ range”.
