Scientific Illustration Poster: Essential Fish Habitat in Hawai‘i

A new outreach tool in Hawaiʻi bridges science and art to show the importance of conserving each habitat critical to a fish's life.

This poster describes the lifecycle of an uku, or grey snapper (Aprion virescens), in the main Hawaiian Islands and illustrates the Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) on which it depends. We worked with a scientific illustrator who used reference photos of uku and their habitat to create a technically correct, visually appealing, and informative depiction.
