The Marine Mammal and Turtle Division at the Southeast Fisheries Science Center produces societally relevant and exceptional science to have a meaningful impact on marine mammal and sea turtle conservation.
The Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) of NOAA Fisheries, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), conducts research on marine mammals off the coasts of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California.
The research will be based off of the charter vessel Alaskan Song. The overall research objectives are to conduct visual and acoustic surveys for marine mammals, primarily cetaceans, to estimate density and abundance in this area.
