Life on Board NOAA Ship Bell M. Shimada - One of Our Favorite Meals

July 24, 2019

By Sandy Parker-Stetter

While we're at sea, the science party has some favorite phrases:

"The weather is going to be nice the next few days."

"We're doing zooplankton stations today."

"There's a new chocolate in the acoustics lab."

"Let's go fishing."

and

"It's pizza night!"

Pizza night is always a big deal, and the other evening the Stewards went big with 10 jumbo pizzas, chicken wings, garlic bread, and the salad bar. Combined with some not-quite-brownies-not-quite-mini-pies made with chocolate and caramel, the 36 persons aboard were left happy (and full). Maybe we'll get lucky and have two pizza nights on Leg 3 of the Summer Survey?
