GulfCorps Initiative Recognized for Innovative Programming and Inspirational People

The Corps Network awarded NOAA's collaborative GulfCorps as a 2019 Project of the Year, and a GulfCorps crew member as a Corpsmember of the Year. The initiative trains young people to restore coastal habitats and gain job skills.

Third Year of NOAA's Tuna and Swordfish Restoration Project in the Gulf of Mexico Begins

Effort aims to restore oceanic, highly migratory fish from impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill by partnering with fishermen on a voluntary six month break from pelagic longline fishing. Participants also have options to use alternative gear that reduces bycatch.
