We provide stock assessments, fishery analysis, ecological research, and economic and social science research focused on the California Current, throughout the Pacific Ocean and in the Southern Ocean off Antarctica. Our science supports the regional management of fisheries and the recovery of threatened and endangered species and their habitats. We also provide scientific advice in support of the U.S. commitment to many international fisheries management councils, commissions and conventions. The ultimate goal of these scientific efforts is to ensure that the region's marine and anadromous fish and invertebrate populations remain at sustainable and healthy levels, as functioning parts of their ecosystem and to enhance the quality of life for the public.
