West Coast Groundfish Trawl Quota Share Owner Survey

Data collection to support a sustainable U.S. West Coast groundfish fishery.

The Northwest Fisheries Science Center and the Pacific Fishery Management Council developed the Quota Share Owners Survey to better understand the participation of quota share owners in the West Coast trawl groundfish fishery. The Quota Share Owners Survey collects two types of data:

  1. Descriptions of each quota share owner's fishery participation.
  2. Quota sale earnings. 

Listed below is an example Quota Share Owners Survey. You will need to complete this survey as part of your annual online permit renewal process

2.  How much was received for leasing quota from this permit in 2022?

Include:

  • Gross amounts from all cash transactions, including sales, contracts, etc.
  • Any earnings occurring after self-trades (i.e. at the point the quota leaves the company).

Do not include:

  • Estimates of barters or selftrades values
  • Earnings already recorded on a 2022 EDC Catcher Vessel form, i.e. earnings received by a vessel for leasing out quota
  • Earnings already recorded on a 2022 EDC First Receiver and Shorebased Processor form; i.e. earnings received by a company for leasing out quota.
