2024 West Coast Pacific Halibut Directed Commercial Fishery
Summary
NOAA Fisheries adopted annual management measures for the 2024 Pacific halibut directed commercial fishery in Area 2A off Washington, Oregon, and California, including fishing periods and fishing period limits (i.e., season dates and vessel catch limits) in a final rule on May 10, 2024. Further information and regulations can be found in Federal Register notices and in 50 CFR Part 300 Subpart E.
Update (October 10, 2024)
NOAA Fisheries has announced closure of the 2024 directed commercial Pacific halibut fishery and provides fishery catch estimates. The total allocation for this fishery was 249,338 pounds (113 mt), net weight (all weights are shown in net weight).

- Fishing period #2 (July 9–11): 88,916 pounds (40.3 mt)
- Fishing period #3 (August 6–8): 21,826 pounds (9.9 mt)
- Fishing period #4 (August 27–29): 16,746 pounds (7.6 mt)
- Fishing period #5 (September 24–26): 16,246 pounds (7.4 mt)
- Total: 237,164 pounds (107.6 mt)
