Overview
In May 2023, NOAA Fisheries finalized its first-ever national Equity and Environmental Justice Strategy. The national strategy describes the path the agency will take to incorporate equity and environmental justice into the vital services the agency provides to all communities. NOAA Fisheries needs your help developing an Alaska implementation plan for this national strategy.
To provide information on the national effort and gather initial feedback on the development of this EEJ Strategy Implementation Plan NOAA Fisheries held small scale meetings, attended various organizations' meetings, invited written comments, and conducted teleconferences for Tribal government members and their representatives on October 17 and October 25. Teleconference recordings are posted below.
A public teleconference was also conducted on November 17.
The Alaska Region and Alaska Fisheries Science Center will hold a Teleconference EEJ Town Hall March 5, 2024 for charter operators and recreational fishing members of coastal communities. Dates for additional Town Hall teleconferences will be announced soon.
Members of the public are also welcome to provide written comments to inform development of the Alaska EEJ Implementation Plan.
