December 15, 2017

Public notice: NMFS-SEA-17-22. For more information, contact Christopher Biegel, (503) 231-6291, christopher.biegel@noaa.gov.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) will publish a proposed rule in the Federal Register on December 19, 2017. This rule proposes to modify recreational groundfish requirements to authorize fishing with long-leader gear in depths that would otherwise be closed in the Oregon recreational fishery, targeting midwater groundfish species. This proposed rule is consistent with the recommendations of the Pacific Fishery Management Council and was developed in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Public comments on this rule must be received by NMFS by January 18, 2018.
