NOAA Fisheries Announces 2024 Audit Model Electronic Monitoring Review Rates for Groundfish Sectors

Effective on May 1, 2024, this action implements possession and trip limits for the Northeast multispecies common pool fishery for fishing year 2024 and other measures.

This final rule allocates initial annual catch entitlements to sectors based on preliminary 2024 sector rosters and 2024 catch limits set by Framework Adjustment 65 or default specifications.

NOAA Fisheries announces a preliminary at-sea monitoring coverage target for fishing year 2024 of 100 percent of all groundfish sector trips subject to the at-sea monitoring program.

NOAA Fisheries is announcing approved at-sea monitoring and electronic monitoring providers for fishing year 2024.

This action prohibits possession of Gulf of Maine cod by common pool vessels through the end of fishing year. This action also closes the Gulf of Maine Cod Trimester Total Allowable Catch Area to common pool vessels for Trimester 3 of fishing year 2023.

Sector at-sea monitoring and electronic monitoring provider applications are due October 27, 2023.
