Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Training Workshops

Some permit holders and dealers are required to complete training workshop certifications every three years. An online option takes some burden off of fishermen, vessel operators, and dealers.

Certain Atlantic HMS permit holders and Atlantic shark dealers are required to complete workshop certifications every three years. The first certification must be completed at an in-person workshop. Recertification can now be completed online.

Safe Handling Release, and Identification Workshops

This workshop is designed to educate longline and gillnet fishermen on the proper techniques for safe handling and release of entangled or hooked protected species, such as sea turtles, marine mammals, smalltooth sawfish, Atlantic sturgeon, and prohibited sharks.

Atlantic Shark Identification Workshops

This workshop is designed to train shark dealer permit holders, or their proxies, to properly identify Atlantic sharks when they are offloaded from vessels.
