Do you want to learn more about the crucial role anglers play in recreational fisheries monitoring? Have you ever wondered how NOAA Fisheries works with state agencies to conduct shoreside interviews as part of the Access Point Angler Intercept Survey, measures fishing trips through the new Fishing Effort Survey, or collects catch and effort data from charter boat and headboat operators? Do you want to discuss fishing regulations, safe handling practices, or the status of stocks in the Northeast?

This weekend and next, you can get answers to these questions and many more as representatives from NOAA Fisheries’ Marine Recreational Information Program (MRIP) join Port Agents and others from the Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) at saltwater fishing shows in New Jersey and Rhode Island.

Please stop by our booths to say hello.

Port Agents stationed from Maine through Virginia frequently speak with members of the saltwater recreational fishing industry as well as the fishing public, and can relay your feedback to the appropriate staff at GARFO or MRIP.
