Crude Oil Causes Heart and Skull Deformities in Haddock

Even brief exposures of the eggs of Atlantic haddock to low concentrations of dispersed crude oil can cause severe and usually deadly deformities in developing fish, an international research team has found.

Kicking off the Second Largest Dam Removal in California

In August 2016, NOAA and partners broke ground on the second-largest dam removal in California. The Benbow Dam, on the South Fork of the Eel River, is a safety hazard. It also limited salmon and steelhead from reaching their upstream habitat.
